Lipitor, known generically as Atorvastatin, is prescribed to patients to lower their triglycerides and cholesterol. We have two types of cholesterol which are LDL (bad cholesterol) and HDL (good cholesterol). LDL stands for low density lipoproteins and HDL stands for high density lipoproteins.
